I had to take a break, because it felt like I wasn’t enjoying this anymore. But now I’m back, and I realized how much I missed it. The last week has been rough (I say as someone who voted for Kamala Harris) but I know that if we stick together, we will make it through whatever the next chapter is. Because there isn’t an option to just quit. There is only an option to keep going.
I’ve spent a lot of time revisiting my book, and writing things that I wouldn’t have expected to be writing about. Mostly joy, happiness, and growing. I’ll share them eventually. But today I had to write something that I’ve been feeling for the last 7 days.
To all those who came before
To all those that will come after
We will not stop fighting
We will not let them continue unopposed
We will not let them make us second class citizens.
To all those who came before
To all those that will come after
We will not forget
What has been fought for
What needs to be fought for.
To all those who came before
To all those that will come after
We see you
We anticipate you
We will fight for you.
If you’ve been happy about the results of the United State’s election, this blog probably isn’t for you. At least not for the next few years. Because I won’t stay silent. And I’ll write and share what I really am feeling.
For those of you upset about the results, join me on January 20th for Black Monday. Wear black to mourn the loss of life that is coming. Wear black for the loss of our rights. Don’t shop, go to work, send your kids to school, buy gas (day before or after). We are in protest, just as though we were attending a funeral. Because we will be. A funeral for the things that many before us have fought for us to have. And for those that will come after us, who will not have the freedom and protections that we had, even if we had them only for a short time.
