Plants

I’m kinda like a houseplant. I need some sun, water, and some food and I’d really rather you just leave me alone. The problem is I’m a houseplant I’ve neglected, and I’m struggling to survive.

I love my plants. Though, I’ve managed to kill quite a few. Even ones that I’m not really sure how I killed. Like my poor money tree. It was doing great, and them boom, it just decided to die. Then I have other plants, like my monstera, that I do kinda just ignore and she is thriving. I’m even trying to propagate her so I can take part of her home. She lives in my office currently.

Houseplants bring me lots of joy. Though, I have to say that some of them are a bit difficult. My jade, for example. I’ve got two different pothos plants, and they both are still babies so they aren’t long and viney. I’m constantly worried that I’m killing those because they aren’t growing. But man, my ponytail palm? She’s doing great.

Herein lies the problem – I don’t live in a place where the houseplants that I want typically thrive. I live in the midwest where I find it extremely difficult to find the plants I want. I’m constantly looking for plants online, but that just seems excessive for some of the prices that are out there. Though, I did pay a stupid amount of money for my Thai Constellation Monstera, and I’m not ashamed.

My point is, that houseplants are a lot like people. Each one has their own specific type of needs, and they need to be met or they don’t survive. And doing just a little bit extra, can really help them thrive. So take care of your houseplant. One day it will be ready to thrive.
