It is finally summer. I love it because I can be outside and I can just take in nature. This year, I finally have a hammock I can use! I’m so excited for that. But it means nights out on my deck with a good book, morning coffee out on the deck. It means open windows and warm weather and sunshine. I love the summer. And I’m so excited to be able to do more of the things now that I have the space.
Like I planted a lilac bush! My great-grandmother had one when I was a kid, she might still have it in her yard actually. But I LOVE the smell of lilacs. So it’s just a baby, and I’m 100% babying it. But in a few years, it will be beautiful. I’ve got flowers lining the walkway up to my house – calla lilies and a mini rosebush. And I don’t have to do any of the yard work that comes with the summer. Thank god for HOAs. That’s a sentence I never thought I would say.
This summer I’m heading to a few different concerts. I was really hoping to drive to Nashville for the Music City Rodeo to see Reba perform live again, but I got the inside of my house painted instead. I’ll live through others and their experiences and videos until I can go again. Please Reba, don’t die before I have a chance to meet you. I just need a selfie and a hug. That’s it.
But I’ve stumbled across a new artist on TikTok that speaks to my heart. Jordan Rainer, who is an indie artist on the road to win a Grammy without a record label. It’s not an easy road, but she’s determined to make it. And I’ll be with her every step of the way.
It’s time to put together my summer playlist. Reba will dominate, as well as Taylor. But I’m thinking it’s going to be a 90s Country kind of summer. So here’s to deck beers, bonfires, and living wild and free in this time of beautiful weather and fantastic memories. Here’s to the summertime y’all. I’m going to write and laugh and have fun. I hope you do the same.
