Lyrical Logic

Children are going hungry.
Single parents feel
like they are failing.
Working two or three
minimum wage jobs
just trying to keep
food on the table.
No matter how much
they work, at just
$7.25 an hour
they will never get ahead.
They are begging for change.
Begging for a chance
to get ahead.
But our government cannot
be bothered long enough
to just listen
to what they have to say.

Government officials are
bought and paid for
by the billionaires keeping
people in poverty.
Government officials are
putting party over country
instead of feeding the
people who elected them.
Government officials are
sitting back and watching
as children starve.
They allow health insurance
companies get away with
murder because of their
premium prices.
People can’t afford healthcare.
People can’t afford to eat.
Yet our government
is content just taking a seat.
