The world has been grieving. We lost an angel on earth, and it hurts. Personally, I realized how much of a mess if Reba ever dies (she’s not allowed, this is a non negotiable). While I am heartbroken, I’m so glad she got to go home to her Carl Dean. She was ready to go home. She really, really was. I can accept that. However, I was thinking about what heaven was like that first night. What the reunion of her and those that have gone before her would look like. How beautiful “Islands In the Stream” would sound now that her and Kenny were there. Then I realized that none of our Honky Tonk Angels are here anymore.
Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton. Our Honky Tonk Angels are all finally together again. That realization was a blow itself because what do you mean future generations of country songwriters and performers will never been able to seek their advice? What do you mean they are all gone? But also, what I would have given to see that reunion in person.
I don’t think any of us are going to be okay for a while. Grief is funny because we all know this is parasocial grief, but it feels like so much more. As a woman who found comfort in the women of country music, and still does, that reunion had to of been epic. Add in Patsy Cline and it’s just pure perfection. That is how I’m going to decide to view it. Our Honkey Tonk Angels are watching over all of us together and making sure we don’t screw it up.
I can’t help but mention Tim Curry and Peter Cullen. One of the first movies I remember watching was Rocky Horror Picture Show (I was 5) with my grandmother. My friends for a long time called me Eeyore. Losing the people who helped shape my childhood is absolutely heart wrenching. So, I’m going to need Hollywood/Nashville to do something for me.
I need CURRENT photos (taken since August 26th, 2026) of the following people to ensure they are still alive: Reba, Willie Nelson, Celine Dion (NOT ON A FENCE), Randy Travis, Dick Van Dyke, Julie Andrews, Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Patrick Stewart, Morgan Freeman, Samuel L. Jackson, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Cher, Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, Carol Burnett, Sally Field, Stanley Tucci, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Susan Saradon, Gina Davis, and Madonna. Okay, y’all are the ones that are on the DO NOT DIED IN 2026 list because losing Diane Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, and Dolly in the same damn year is going to kill me if I lose one more of y’all. So, bubble wrap. Doctors in homes. And we do not doordash because they could poison you.
Keep mourning. Keep grieving. And in a world full of Donny’s, be a Dolly.
