Cat Mama x3

I brought home a new cat. So now I’ve got three. Two boys and a girl, and lord help me, I think I made a mistake. But first, a quick history of how I became a cat mama to three.

Shortly after I got divorced I texted my aunt to see if she had any farm cats that were tame enough to become a house cat. In fact she did, and so I went and picked up, for the purpose of this story, Goosers. Male tabby, born around May 4, 2023.

Goosers soon became terroristic. He clearly needed a play mate, but I wasn’t sure I wanted two cats. It came to a head when he bit my nipple in the middle of the night because he wanted to play. A few days later, a male tuxedo, who for the purposes of this story, Zoombafoo, was made known to me. And he came home with me two weeks later after he got fixed and his shots.

I had it made. I had Goosers who now chased Zoomy around the house and would let me sleep through the night in peace. I told everyone around me that I was at my max cat limit. And then I called my sister for her birthday.

My sister had an orange female cat named Bertha. She had scratched my niece on accident but the baby daddy threw a hissy fit and she needed to find Bertha a new home. *Please note, I don’t think cats should scratch children, but accidents happen. My niece was fine.* So my sister asked if I would take her.

I told my sister no. Then a few hours later, the cat was in my car and we were driving home. I’m not really sure how I ended up saying yes to the cat, but I did. And she is the sweetest cat, who has been renamed because I loathe the name Bertha. For our purposes, her name is Erica.

So now, I have three. And this is it. Seriously. Because you see, Goosers knows zero boundaries. None. I call him my ADHD toddler. So a “slow” introduction was made impossible the first day Erica was home. Goosers managed to find a way into the room I had her in. It wasn’t great. But, now, Erica just growls at him when he gets too close. He’s learned that she doesn’t know about him quite yet. Zoomy, on the other hand, very respectful boy who understands boundaries.

So, here’s to week two of integration. I did carry Erica downstairs today to make her explore a little. She’s snuggled up next to me on the couch. We are vibing the day away. Enjoy your week friends. I’ll get back to the poetry soon, I promise. I’ve simply been exhausted.
