I’m Too Old for This Shit

So, for my birthday this year, I decided I wanted to go do something. Well, okay. I needed “supplies” for writing. The fact that it was my birthday was just a happy accident. Well, I decided it would be a brilliant idea to spend the weekend TENT CAMPING. Yeah, my back is screaming at me too.

I also, on the 31st, got 1.75 new tattoos. The second one still has a few hours left to finish, but gosh, it’s beautiful. Because they are personal, specifically designed pieces, I won’t be sharing them with you. Not yet anyway. The idea of sharing who I really am with you has been weighing on me lately. I might be getting closer. I might not be. I haven’t decided yet.

The weekend was perfect. Well, minus the tent camping. Which, admittedly, my own fault. It was part of the experience. But I am going to have to give serious consideration to a blow up camping mat. We also did some hiking. And while the hike itself felt like it was going to kill me, the view of the lake at the end? Totally worth it. And I can’t wait to make it a yearly thing. Though, late July isn’t the best time to go out camping. It’s too hot. And humid.

Really, I’m just tired. I’m sitting here on Monday night (August 3rd) kicking myself for not writing this sooner. I’m so tired that I don’t have the energy to go upstairs and come back down. So, truthfully, I haven’t showered yet. Nope. Just the baby wipe pat down from this weekend and I’ll shower in the morning. Because tonight? Tonight I’m listening to the three new to me Reba albums that arrived while I was gone. Just A Little Love, The Last One to Know, and Sweet Sixteen. All still factory sealed.

They are all hitting a little differently tonight. Probably because of one of the tattoos I got on Friday. Okay, I’m going to show you one of them. Just, one.

It’s her signature from my signed, original pressing, 1981 Heart to Heart album that I have. Admittedly, the original says “Love Reba McEntire” and I also have her sister, Susie’s, signature on my copy as well. But I just needed the “Love Reba” part of it. Where does this tattoo live? Just below my collar bone on my left chest. Right over my heart.

Yeah, I’m sure my therapist has things to say. Though, she knew about both tattoos before I got them and she approved. She might just have something to say about the fact that, without any sort of numbing cream, I felt none of her on that tattoo and the other one I got tickled up until the last hour.

Anyway, I’m too old for tent camping. I’m too out of shape for 2 mile hikes on sandy trails (if they were dirt I would have been a little better). And I’m too tired to shower tonight. I’m obsessed with my tattoos. I’m currently trying to figure out a way to be able to show off the new ones while still dressing “work appropriate.” Alas, not all things are doable.

Until next week friends. I’m just going to keep on keeping on.
